Methodology

How a casino gets listed, and what "last reported" actually means.

A casino enters this database one of two ways. Either one of our 90+ volunteer reporters — most of them advantage-play regulars with a quarterly circuit of their own — files a verified report from the floor with the machine serial, the denomination, and a photograph of the pay-table glass. Or a reader submits a casino we don't yet cover, and a regional reporter confirms it within 30 days before it goes live. Nothing is scraped from third-party directories. If a casino isn't in this database, it's because nobody who knows the difference between 9/5 and 9/6 JoB has stood in front of its machines in the last reporting cycle.

The "last reported" date on every row is the date a reporter physically verified the listed pay table on the floor. We do not extrapolate or assume a pay table is still active — if a casino hasn't been re-verified in 90 days, the row is flagged "stale" in the live view and we dispatch a reporter before publishing it as current. For long-haul trip planning, treat anything older than 60 days as a reason to call the casino's slot department and confirm.

What you should look at when comparing two casinos for the same variant: the pay table (first), the denomination (a 9/6 JoB at $1 is not the same game as a 9/6 JoB at 25¢ — the EV math is identical but your variance per hour isn't), the number of machines confirmed (a single verified terminal is a coin flip; six terminals means somebody else has tested the floor), and the date. Everything else in the row is context.

  • 47 video poker variants tracked across the network
  • 312 distinct pay tables, each cross-checked against Bob Dancer, Jean Scott, and Wizard of Odds methodology
  • Monthly refresh cadence; stale rows older than 90 days are pulled pending re-verification
  • Zero ads on this page — the math content stays uncompromised

Operational Notes

The questions a serious player asks before relying on the data.

How often is the database refreshed?
Every entry is targeted for re-verification at least once every 90 days. High-traffic states (Nevada, Iowa, Oklahoma, Mississippi, California) are re-checked monthly. If a row hasn't been re-verified inside the 90-day window, it is flagged "stale" in the live view and a reporter is dispatched.
Who are the volunteer reporters, and how are they vetted?
The network is recruited through long-time readers and advantage-play circles. Every reporter submits a sample report (with photo and machine serial) before being added. Reports are cross-checked against each other for any casino where two reporters overlap — disagreements get a third visit before the row publishes.
What does "full pay" mean on this site?
It means the pay table on the glass is the published optimal-pay version of that variant — 9/6 for Jacks or Better, 25/15/9/5/3 for Deuces Wild, 7/5/4/3/2 for Super Aces Bonus, etc. — and the math behind it has been verified against Bob Dancer, Jean Scott, and the Wizard of Odds methodology. We don't use the phrase loosely.
How do I submit a casino that's missing, or report a stale row?
Email [email protected] with the casino name, city, state, and (ideally) a photo of the pay-table glass. A regional reporter will confirm within 30 days; you'll be credited on the row when it publishes. We do not accept reports from anonymous submissions.

If you or someone you know struggles with gambling, contact 1-800-GAMBLER or the National Council on Problem Gambling. Video poker is negative EV at most pay tables; we say so plainly.
